Most used cars come with a history. This one comes with barely a first chapter.
Look at the odometer story before anything else. Six thousand kilometres. In Nairobi terms, that is a handful of weekend drives, a few supermarket runs and one very patient owner. A 2020 car with that number is the kind of find dealers whisper about, and the photos back it up. The dashboard has no wear, the steering wheel looks untouched, and the pedals still show their original grip pattern. Pop the bonnet and the SkyActiv-G engine bay is spotless, the plastics are crisp, and the battery and fittings look like they left the factory last month. Open the boot and the spare wheel well holds the original jack and toolkit, still sitting in their moulded foam, with a jack stamped 2020. Nobody has needed to use it.
Then there is the car itself, which is quietly beautiful. The silver paint has a soft pearl glow, bright in the sun and cool and metallic under cloud. A chrome wing sweeps out of the honeycomb grille and into headlights wearing a glowing ring, a thin chrome line runs along the lower lip, and the turbine style alloys sit perfectly in the arches. Parking sensors are fitted front and back, and a roof spoiler with a high mounted brake light gives the tail a sporty finish. Compact outside, polished everywhere, and it looks like it costs far more than it does.
Slide into the driver’s seat and Mazda’s philosophy makes sense within minutes. The cabin is clean, low slung and uncluttered, with round metal ringed vents, a slim chrome line across the dashboard and fine grey stitching through the soft padded trim. The floating display and rotary controller let you manage music and navigation without taking your eyes off the road, and there is a heads up display that projects your speed onto a small panel in front of you, a feature you usually find in much more expensive cars. The steering wheel is thick and grippy with controls at your thumbs, the seats are supportive and trimmed in fine textured fabric, and the heated seat switches sit ready for those chilly Limuru mornings.
The 1.5 litre SkyActiv-G engine is Mazda’s own high compression design, built to squeeze more energy out of every drop of fuel. With an automatic gearbox, it is smooth around town, lively when you want it, and easy on the pump. And because this engine has barely been run in, it has an entire lifetime of fresh, dependable motoring ahead of it. You are not buying someone else’s wear and tear. You are buying the beginning.
This is the car for the first time buyer who wants something special without the risk, the young professional who wants taste and low running costs, and the careful buyer who has been searching for a genuinely low mileage car and almost given up. Cars like this do not appear often, and when they do, they do not last.
Come and see it. Check the odometer yourself, lift the bonnet, open the boot, and take it for a drive. Fair warning, the hardest part of the viewing is believing the numbers.
