The 2019 Mercedes Benz E63 S AMG is the kind of car that looks elegant when you want it to and absolutely brutal when you put your foot down. Finished in white with the aggressive AMG body kit, black AMG wheels, red brake calipers and quad exhaust setup, this particular unit has the presence of a proper performance sedan.

Under the bonnet is a 4.0 litre twin turbo V8, producing around 603 hp and 850 Nm of torque. Power is sent through Mercedes AMG’s 4MATIC+ all wheel drive system and an AMG SPEEDSHIFT 9 speed transmission. It can launch from 0 to 100 km/h in roughly 3.4 seconds, which is seriously quick for a full size luxury sedan.

Despite the performance, the E63 S still feels like an E Class inside. The cabin combines premium leather, AMG sports seats, a high quality dashboard, digital instrumentation and Mercedes’ COMAND infotainment system. You get a comfortable, refined interior for everyday driving, but with the AMG steering wheel, performance displays and sports controls reminding you that this is far from an ordinary E Class.

The AMG Ride Control+ suspension, selectable driving modes and AMG performance systems allow the car to change character depending on how you drive it. In Comfort mode it can behave like a sophisticated executive sedan, while Sport and Race modes unleash the V8 and sharpen the steering, suspension, gearbox and throttle response.

Fuel consumption is naturally not its strongest point. In normal mixed driving, expect roughly 7–9 km/l, with considerably less when driven aggressively.

Safety and technology are also well covered, with features such as adaptive cruise control, collision prevention assistance, parking sensors, reversing camera, lane assistance and Mercedes’ extensive electronic stability and traction systems depending on specification.

The E63 S AMG is basically two cars in one: a luxury Mercedes for the daily commute and a 600 hp V8 monster waiting to be unleashed. This one’s white exterior, black AMG wheels and red calipers give it exactly the aggressive look you'd expect from an E63 S.
